As we enter one of the coldest days of our Winter I dream of “warm” sunlight, blue skies with puffy clouds and the sound of the Pacific Ocean crashing waves along the pristine shoreline. Cape Meares, OR is such a place. I’ve been there 3-4 times in my 6 years plus here in Oregon. There’s a lighthouse at Cape Meares sitting atop a bluff right over the ocean. A walking path all the way to the beach below is a delightful, scenic hike. I must visit there again, as soon as decent weather returns.
I know God made oceans and mountains, but I do believe He made lighthouses too. They fascinate and inspire me continuously. Some friends gave me a painting of one particular lighthouse by Steven Sundram, and within three hours of looking at it, it had inspired a whole 360-page novel.
