I really like this photograph of Zawadi, Portland’s male lion. It looks ready for a mat & frame. I processed the photo in an effort to make it look more like a painting that just a photograph. I used my newest camera, a Nikon D800, with a Nikkor 24-70mm F/2.8 lens aboard. That’s quite a combination that I enjoy for its incredible sharpness and wide exposure range. I had intended to capture photos of our zoo’s newest member, Lily, a baby Indian elephant. I forgot that the school kids are off for the holidays so they were in attendance in mass quantities. The zoo is only showing the public the baby from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day and allowing two people at a time 5 minutes to look and go. The line to accomplish this extended a city block and wasn’t worth the effort. I’ll just wait until the school age kids are back at school & try again.
