With Autumn behind us and the leaves all on the ground it’s time to reflect on our brief encounter with Nature’s brilliance. K.I.S.S is an acronym I learned a long time ago while still studying fine art in college. It stands for keep it simple stupid and is intended to remind us to look for the simple things in life instead of complicating everything and losing out on the beauty. I teach my photography students this principle and the more they take it to heart the less they travel during a walk in the woods. In the end we all laugh at this philosophy because before my class they sometimes proclaimed that they were no longer inspired to shoot, claiming they couldn’t find new subject matter. All they needed to do was open their eyes to the unlimited possibilities in nature. How can they NOT see the beauty was always my response!
